The show had several hits and misses, but I'll give the producers credit for trying something different, and raising those all important ratings. I stayed up about an hour longer than I usually do when watching the Academy Awards, so they did something right.
While much recognition goes to Sean Penn, Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz, like many women (and men), I was more interested in the gowns than the awards. Here are the real winners:
