Obamarama AND Michelle's dress

I'm a little late with it, but YES I DID...make it to D.C. for all of the inaugural festivities. It was a last minute jaunt, which left me broke and homeless (but in that college student way). I partied it up at all the unofficial events, and lived the life--for one night at least--in my suite at The Mayflower. I also visited peeps at Howard, DB at her super secret service tight job, Monique--who still has the hook up, Theresa and Uncle Ray, Stacy and all her journo friends, and crashed with my new upstate Alpha friends. I also went to the Young & Powerful For Obama event, moderated by Jeff Johnson. Clearly he didn't think highly of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, as evidenced when he told DeShawn Snow, a panelist, that the show was ridiculous. So much for being unbiased. The event was ironically hilarious, thanks to Johnson's strong views on a number of issues...and people.

But there is something I do need to vent about: Michelle Obama's Jason Wu dress. I hate to say it, but I don't think it did her justice. It was just blah. Actually, it looked like a down duvet with the feathers poking through. I'm sorry, those are just my thoughts. I love that she takes fashion risks and works with lesser known designers, but still, I think she could have done better. Aside from the pillow explosion, the dress is droopy in the chest area, flattening them, too. Jill Biden got it right with her Reem Acra gown. Now that was a dress.

But I'm sure Lady O has many fresh looks in store for us.

Classic. Simple. Sexy. Love it.

Kira Plastinina-poo Closing

This is really ironic because a few days ago I was searching the net to find out how [poor] sales have been for U.S. Kira Plastinina stores. Everytime I'd pass the poorly shopped 34th street location I'd wonder just how much longer this store could go on. And what do you know?! 10 out of the 12 Plastic-poo U.S. stores are closing their doors over the next two weeks. It's about time. Lil Kira has been paying celebs (and maybe Teen Vogue, too) to make her brand seem cool, but no amount of celebuspawn endorsements could save this tacky seven-years behind fashion faux pas from retail destruction. Happy Christmas/Boxing Day, Plastic-poo! Having a Russian billionaire pops might get you the store, Kira, but that doesn't mean your designs are cut out for the U.S. Have fun in Kazakhstan. Haha!

Please, Paris. Do not act like you were really trying to wear this child's clothing.

***

Oh, in case you're not familiar with Plastinina's clothes (you lucky son of a guns) here's a few items from Kira's website, which are all now 75% off.

Eww.

Mr. Vogue v. Mr. Cooper

Somehow I pressed a button at work and have Mark Curry as my screen saver. It's kind of eerie, but anyway, peep the resemblance between Andre Leon Tally, famed Vogue Ed. at Large and, more importantly, the one responsible for J-Hudson's disastrous tin-foil caplet at last year's Oscars.

Me no likey.

No No!!

I'm really trying hard not to turn this into a hater blog, but it's so hard not to. Take these Cherish twins for example. They seem like cool people, but once you get famous, you can't keep shopping at Rainbow and G+G. Case in point: these tackilicious shoes and spandex dresses. Ladies, if you want to go mainstream, do step the game up. Need inspiration? Peep Rihanna any day of the week. Just tryina help.

Don't Front on the One Piece

This post is in response to someone who tried to play me for wearing a one piece bathing suit during spring break. The thing is, would it be better to look wale-ish on the beach or look cute, classy, and camouflaged (you know, not reveling that bit of pudge around the midsection that a two-week spring break crash diet is unable to trim)? The answer is obvious. So...I've found some sexy one piece bathing suits/monokinis for you all to enjoy (men and women alike). No, they are not pasties with a patch to place over your stomach, or ridiculous stripper ish with lots of cut outs!

Instyleswimwear.com (amazing bathing suits!)

Target.com

Both from Macys.com

Both from Torrid.com

What I dont ever want to see on the beach...

This on top of a bathing suit! "Make Ya Mama Proud Take That Thing TWo Sizes Down!"

(who else has a vision of a plus-sized 10-year-old at the YMCA or fresh air fund camp...with one too many beads in her hair.)

And if you should be so awful as to wear this to the beach or the pool, please remove your white tee and pants before you get in the water. I'm so serious right now. There is no excuse. Has anyone been on a Carnival Cruise? You know what I am talking about if you have.

T-Pain or George Clinton

More and more Mr. Teddy Pendherazzdown is looking like rasta man George Clinton. Come on T-Pain, stop the foolishness!

This dress has got to go

The first time I saw this dress was during the summer on a model at
the Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta. I soon saw this
dress in just about every other hip hop video. It's a hot look but
when you and half your click are sporting the same outfit?! Not so much. Leave this dress in '07.

Chris Brown and Bow Wow concert, sort of...

January recap (pt. 2)

So I caught the Bow Wow and Chris Brown (read: Chris Brown) concert at Madison Square Garden Jan. 17. This marks the umpteenth urban teen tour I've seen in my 21 years on this planet, counting Scream tours 1-758. I thought Chrissy and Bow were both headliners but by the looks of things, this show was EXCLUSIVEly for Chris Brown. Bow Wow didn't even have a full set! Big departure from his previous tours where he had all sorts of pyrotechnics, dancers, and was even suspended in midair for a portion of his set. I could not find one fan with a Bow Wow shirt on, and I looked hard; this concert was all about C. Brizzle. Looks like 20 is old these days.

Snug fit there Chrissy. I know his package must be hurtin'. Homie, that ain't healthy.

50 Cent, Omarion and Diddy made guest appearances. Lil Mama, Soulja Boy and Sean Kingston were also on the bill. Can't say I appreciated Omarion's skinny jeans. Contrary to what he said in the December 2007 issue of Vibe , I really don't think they do much to accentuate his shape. Does he have womanly curves or something? Eww.

I also didn't appeciate Soulja Boy getting his under aged freak on on the stage. Don't these people know the audience is made up of thirteen year-olds? Why do I have to come out and be somebody's mama?

(pardon this poor picture...check the youtube link)
Randomness: Why did the chick sitting next to me at the concert pull out her cell phone and show me a picture of her flaming back up dancer boyfriend. She was like, "My boyfriend is a dancer for Lil Mama. He got me these tickets." I was like, "Who are you?" Seriously man, don't come at me (or anyone else) with that nonsense. Unless homegirl was giving me an invite backstage, what was she talking to me for?
